Psalms 106:13-22

13 But they soon aforgot his works;
they did not wait for bhis counsel.
14But they had ca wanton craving in the wilderness,
and dput God to the test in the desert;
15he egave them what they asked,
but sent fa wasting disease among them.
16 When men in the camp gwere jealous of Moses
and Aaron, hthe holy one of the Lord,
17 ithe earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
and covered the company of Abiram.
18 jFire also broke out in their company;
the flame burned up the wicked.
19 They kmade a calf in Horeb
and worshiped a metal image.
20They lexchanged the glory of God
Hebrew  exchanged their glory

for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They nforgot God, their Savior,
who had done great things in Egypt,
22wondrous works in othe land of Ham,
and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.

Ezekiel 2:3

3And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to pnations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. qThey and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day.

Ezekiel 20:5-32

5and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: rOn the day when I chose Israel, sI swore
Hebrew  I lifted my hand; twice in this verse; also verses 6, 15, 23, 28, 42
to the offspring of the house of Jacob, umaking myself known to them in the land of Egypt; vI swore to them, saying, I am the Lord your God.
6On that day I swore to them that wI would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, a land xflowing with milk and honey, ythe most glorious of all lands. 7And I said to them, ' zCast away the detestable things aayour eyes feast on, every one of you, and do not defile yourselves with abthe idols of Egypt; acI am the Lord your God.' 8 adBut they rebelled against me and were not willing to listen to me. aeNone of them cast away the detestable things their eyes feasted on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.

“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them afand spend my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
9 agBut I acted ahfor the sake of my name, aithat it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, ajin whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt. 10 akSo I led them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness. 11 alI gave them my statutes and made known to them my rules, amby which, if a person does them, he shall live. 12Moreover, I gave them anmy Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, aothat they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them. 13 apBut the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. aqThey did not walk in my statutes but rejected my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; arand my Sabbaths they greatly profaned.

as“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them.
14But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, atin whose sight I had brought them out. 15Moreover, auI swore to them in the wilderness avthat I would not bring them into the land that I had given them, a land awflowing with milk and honey, axthe most glorious of all lands, 16because they rejected my rules and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; ayfor their heart went after their idols. 17Nevertheless, azmy eye spared them, and I did not destroy them or bamake a full end of them in the wilderness.

18“And I said to bbtheir children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk bcin the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, bdnor defile yourselves with their idols. 19 beI am the Lord your God; bfwalk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, 20and bgkeep my Sabbaths holy that bhthey may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.' 21 biBut the children bjrebelled against me. bkThey did not walk in my statutes and were not careful to obey my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; they profaned my Sabbaths.

bl“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness.
22 bmBut I withheld my hand bnand acted for the sake of my name, bothat it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. 23 bpMoreover, bqI swore to them in the wilderness brthat I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries, 24because they had not obeyed my rules, but had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, bsand their eyes were set on their fathersidols. 25 btMoreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life, 26and I defiled them through butheir very gifts bvin their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it bwthat they might know that I am the Lord.

27Therefore, bxson of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: In this also your fathers blasphemed me, by bydealing treacherously with me. 28For when I had brought them into the land that bzI swore to give them, then wherever they saw caany high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented cbthe provocation of their offering; there they sent up their pleasing aromas, and there they poured out their drink offerings. 29(I said to them, cc'What is the high place to which you go?' So its name is called Bamah
 Bamah means high place
to this day.)

30Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: ceWill you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and go cfwhoring after their detestable things? 31When you present your gifts and cgoffer up your children in fire,
Hebrew  and make your children pass through the fire
you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. And cishall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? cjAs I live, declares the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you.

32 ck“What is in your mind shall never happen—the thought, cl‘Let us be like the nations, like the tribes of the countries, cmand worship wood and stone.’

Ezekiel 23:2-3
